Why We Need to Care About the News
Missiles launched. Continual gun violence. Nations on edge. Motives hidden. Plans missing. It’s enough to make you want to turn it all off. I’ve done it—taken a news sabbatical because the cycle can be stressful, noisy, and downright scary. But here’s the truth: ignoring the news doesn’t make it less real. And pretending faith has nothing to say about it doesn’t make us more spiritual—it makes us less prepared.
Why paying attention matters
That’s part of why I’m building the PerSpeckTives podcast. We need space to talk about the world without collapsing into fear or numbing out completely. We need to ask hard questions, seek honest answers, and exercise faith in every step between.
What we’ll wrestle with…together
What’s really driving these conflicts?
Have we seen patterns like this before?
How should believers respond when truth is hidden?
Where is God in the chaos?
When we talk about missiles, motives, and mayhem, we’re not just talking politics. We’re talking people—image-bearers caught in the crossfire of systems and powers. We’re talking about the call to discern, to pray, and to act with wisdom.
The table we’re building
The table we’re building with PerSpeckTives isn’t afraid of the news. It brings faith to the front lines of it—so we can watch, weigh, and walk in step with God. If you’re weary of outrage and ready for grounded, Spirit-led clarity, pull up a chair. Subscribe to PerSpeckTives and help shape the first episodes—what do you want on the table?
🔥 Silence in the face of chaos isn’t holiness. Wisdom means watching, discerning, and responding in step with God.
“Be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.” (1 Peter 4:7)
