Even Babylon Is Still His: Finding God in Unlikely Places
Babylon shows up in Scripture like a shadow—sometimes as an oppressor, sometimes as a symbol of rebellion, sometimes as a place of exile. It was never the land you’d choose to live. In fact, it was the land God called Abraham out of. And yet, time and again, God proves that even Babylon is still under His authority.
Babylon in Scripture: Shadow and Symbol
Babylon looked like the center of pride and control; yet, God humbled it. It was the place His people were exiled; yet, He still gave them songs, visions, and promises. Following the thread of Babylon through the Bible shows us this truth: no one and nothing is beyond God’s justice or His pruning and equally, no one and nothing is beyond His love and grace.
Walking Through Personal Babylons
I think about that when I walk through my own “Babylons.” Jobs where I felt out of place. Seasons heavy with compromise. Systems that seemed too big to change. And yet, even there, God was not absent. He was working, teaching, refining.
Why Even Babylon Is Still His
FireScript Press is being birthed in a world that often feels more like Babylon than Jerusalem. But that doesn’t intimidate me anymore. If God could move in Babylon, He can move here too. Exile is not abandonment—it’s a place where His presence still dwells.
This reflection is also part of the journey shaping my upcoming devotional collection, Still His: A Story of Covenant, Identity, and Grace.
🔥 Don’t mistake exile for abandonment. The dream, the mission, and the person are still His. Even Babylon is still His.
