Why I Built FireScript Press (and Almost Walked Away)
Starting a publishing house wasn’t the “logical” move. Honestly, I wrestled with it for months — and if I’m being real, I’m still wrestling. Do I really need another project on my plate? Do I have the resources? What if no one cares? All of the negative answers…whew.
Here’s the truth: FireScript Press was never about playing it safe. It was about obedience. I couldn’t shake the pull to write that book. I knew the stigma of self-publishing (from academia and the snooty-boots 🙄) and I knew the gatekeeping that runs deep in traditional publishing. But my calling was clear: write. And walking in your calling will always bear fruit.
Then came the question: What about everyone else? God pressed me — this couldn’t just be about my words. FireScript Press needed to be a platform for others too: writers carrying stories of faith, fire, and legacy.
Still, there was a season I almost walked away. The doubts were loud, the finances looked thin, and starting from scratch felt overwhelming. But visions aren’t given because they’re easy — they’re given because they’re necessary.
🔥 Sometimes your calling won’t make sense on paper. Build anyway.
