Fiverr, Upwork, and the Freelance Hustle: Finding Clients in Faith
I’ll be honest—stepping onto freelance platforms can feel intimidating. Fiverr. Upwork. Reedsy. They’re noisy, competitive spaces where everyone is pitching skills, tracking impressions and clicks, and translating that into business. When you’ve lived not caring about likes and shares, you have to learn to monitor what didn’t used to matter—and then figure out how to get more of it. It’s exhausting. But here’s the truth: FireScript Press isn’t competing—we’re called.
That shift changed how I see the hustle. I don’t have to undercut myself, chase every job, or water down the vision. I can walk in with confidence: what I carry has value, and the right clients will recognize it. I also know the pipeline I’ve built will take elbow grease on my part—but I’m not doing this by myself.
Still, these platforms matter. They’re doorways to connections, contracts, and communities I couldn’t reach otherwise. Fiverr opens doors to fast, focused gigs. Upwork positions you for longer projects. Reedsy connects directly with writers and publishers. Each has its place in the bigger ecosystem of funding and reach.
The hustle is real, but so is my faith. I don’t build FireScript Press with desperation—I build it with discipline, prayer, and the expectation that God will send the right opportunities at the right time.
How I’m showing up:
Positioning first: clear profile headline, promise, and niche (what I own).
Packages with boundaries: defined scope, timelines, and 2–3 tiered offers (no scope-creep).
Proof that speaks: 3–5 portfolio pieces with one-sentence outcomes; gather first reviews fast.
Smart search & proposals: alerts for ideal briefs; tailored pitches.
Pricing with confidence: value-based rates; small entry offer → premium upsell.
Pray, then process: pray over leads; use a simple pipeline.
🔥 Platforms may feel crowded, but faith makes room. Show up prepared, price with confidence, and trust God to open the right doors.
